This week in macros: Life is hard, food doesn’t have to be

I’ve sat down so many times to write about something other than food, and so far I’ve decided that I’m not quite there yet. Man, approaching thirty is hard. I don’t even know why, and while I’m having some internal struggles on several different things, keeping my food life as simple as possible is what I’m doing for now.

Sometimes I read through recipes and tips when it comes to flexible dieting and think to myself.. why does it gotta be so complicated?  I know in the beginning it can be difficult to get the numbers in, especially protein. I can’t tell you how many different protein pancakes I’ve tried over the last year and a half. Over time I’ve just realized that if I over complicate things, I just end up focusing way too much on it and getting frustrated or overwhelmed. At the end of the day, it’s just food and I’m not a chef. I can still be creative and try new recipes without reinventing the wheel.

So with that in mind, and in efforts to keep things simple (for the sake of my sanity lately) I’ve just decided to focus less on food and fitness, and to just keep moving forward with my progress instead of worrying about how fast I’m moving. So this morning was pancakes, plain ole Walmart brand pancakes that you just add water and put it in a pan… and surprisingly they tasted better than protein pancakes I’ve had and were pretty easy on the macros. 1.5f/27c/3p.
